Can You Grow an Avocado Tree at Home? Potentially – Here’s What You Should Know

Avocadoes are healthy and delicious fruits with health benefits such as lowering cholesterol and improving digestion. If you love avocados, why not grow some in your yard? You don’t need a farm, but there is some important information that you need to know when getting started at home.

  • Determine when and where to plant your tree. It is advisable to plant the avocado tree in spring, between March and June. Keep your tree away from power lines or other trees since avocado trees don’t grow well in crowded places.
  • Make sure to dig the hole three to four times the diameter of the container your seedling came in. The soil must be level with or above the root ball.
  • Give your avocado tree a deep watering right after you plant it. Water your tree every other day during the first week for best results. You may water twice a week after that.
